About Us
Tracy City, named after Benjamin Franklin Tracy, developed out of railroad and mining interest after coal was found in 1840. Tracy City was incorporated in 1915 and is the home to the Dutch Maid Bakery, the oldest family bakery in Tennessee, which opened in 1902. The Marugg Company, founded in 1873 by Swiss settler Christian Marugg, still designs and manufactures European style scythes today. Early coke ovens have been restored around the Grundy Lakes.
